1. The EventThe oldest rally for touring cars, the „Herkomer-Konkurrenz“, was held in the years 1905 through 1907. It had been initiated by Sir Hubert von Herkomer who was born in Waal near Landsberg am Lech. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary the City of Landsberg am Lech in co-operation with the Bayerische Automobilclub (BAC) in the AvD and under the patronage ofHis Royal Highness, Luitpold Prince of Bavariaorganises the third Herkomer Jubilee Konkurrenz from July 26 through 29, 2007. This event is published internationally for motor cars in accordance with the FIVA Categories A-C (up to the year of manufacture of 1930).In 1907 not only that year’s winner was determined, but the overall winner of all Herkomer-Konkurrenzen of the years 1905 through 1907. In 1906 Dr. Rudolf Stoess, piloting the Horch 18/20 car of Director August Horch, was the overall winner who also came in first on the course in the Forstenrieder Park. In 1907 Director August Horch himself could celebrate his coming in as one of the ten leading cars. The overall winner, however, was Edgar Ladenburg, steering his Benz to victory in 1905, as did his driver Fritz Erle with his Mercedes in 1907.In commemoration of this hundredth anniversary we again invite the participants to attend an event on the eve of the Herkomer-Konkurrenz at the „museum mobile“ in Ingolstadt, e.g. on July 25, 2007.
